The house/our home

I have been having fun making this house ours.  Here are a few not so well taken pictures.  I blame the camera and Marissa for touching the lens. She always wants to help.

I was telling someone how nice it is to go to garage sales and buy anything I want.  I guess it sounds funny but I haven't always been able to do that.  I think it is the best thing to find deals!  Also, I am very picky about what I buy.  If I don't know where I am going to put it I don't buy it. . .So, don't worry.  I am not a hoarder.
I want to give you a rundown of all the stuff in the rooms because I am so proud of myself.  You don't have to read it if you don't want.  You can just look at the pictures.

This is the nursery!  I think it is the most complete of the bedrooms. I keep thinking I need to finish it before he is not a baby anymore.
Crib -craigslist
bumper and blanket that's on the wall -consignment sale.
Rug - leftover from my teaching days.
Hat hanger- Ross.
Lamp on the bookshelf with cars and stripes - garage sale.
 Wall art- my dad.
books on shelf -gsales, Grandma, teaching.
I have a something to go on the left of the quilt but they ran out of paper for the photos. . .

This is the play room!  It is big and fun.  Here is the run down:
The art on the wall is abc Peter Rabbit -from Matt's coworker and I think it goes well in this room.
The tent with the butterfly -garage sales.$5
Kitchen- someone at church was giving it away.
Step shelf unit-garage sale. $5
toy box- garage sale $2
kid size lazyboy-someone from church
bench- garage sale $20
red chaise- already had

This is the guest room.  I don't have much in here but I was getting the chairs for the dining room and I saw this wall art. I got it cause I liked the frames and at$12 for all three I couldn't pass them up.  I was going to put other pictures in them but then I took them upstairs and the art matches the bedding so well they were meant to be together.
I am still working on Marissa's room.  I just had to show you this PURPLE canopy I bought for $6 at a garage sale!  Now that's the making of a princess room.

Dining room: I got 8 green chairs from craigslist for less then I would pay at the store for one of these.
Mirror-garage sale $10
flower art-garage sale $2
table-my sister
place mats-wedding gift
birds-Ross
I am hoping to find a good deal on a bigger table but I am willing to wait on that.

This is the front room.
I was driving home from something at 8pm on night and I saw a sign for a garage sale that said it went till 8pm.  I had to go check it out.  So, I found 4 bookshelves for $5 each. I put the white one in Anson's room and these in here.  I think this room is a little too brown but I'm hoping the green chair adds some good color.  Also, I got the 2 floral chairs from a model home sale.
This is my attempt at DIY.  I took the old brass chandelier from the dining room and sprayed it.  I think it looks great above my kitchen table now.  The mirror is also a great find.  $20 from an estate sale!

There is more to show. I still need to work on getting good pictures. I don't think it will ever be done but I do feel like it is home.

Sandra I am so impressed!! I need to start going to garage sales where you live. Everything is such a good deal! We finally made it to Utah. I'm hoping I can find some good stuff at the garage sales here to spruce up our town home. Thanks for the inspiration :-)
