The night before I had seen a bird close to it but it went away. While I was feeding Marissa a bird came to eat more! I was so mad. I ran out the back door and the bird flew away. Then next thing I knew it was back. So I got the first thing I could find to throw at it and ran out the door. It was Matt's shoe. He walked up just as I let the shoe go and asked me if I was going to go get the shoe. So I did. Within five minutes the bird had come back with its friends. I WAS SO MAD. My sister came over and wondered why I kept looking out the window.
So, I sat and tried to think of something to put over the plants so that my first successful venture in gardening would not turn into bird food. I did not want to spend more money. The whole point to growing stuff is to spend less money. So this is what Matt came up with from what we had in the house.
The netting is left over tulle from our wedding that we never have a use for. The pole is an extension off a lamp that someone was throwing out and Matt picked up. (Thanks Workmans). The stakes holding it down were from the tent we have.
Now, thinking back, it is not that big of a deal. I mean what would have happened if the shoe went over the fence? Those tomatoes better taste good!

If you put water and cayenne pepper into a spray bottle and spry your plants with them, it should deter the animals from coming back again. :) I am not a green thumb, but I hear this is a useful trick. Good Luck with the garden, that is a talent I want to develop as well.
I think you should just make Matt dress like a scarecrow and hang out in the backyard all day.
Hahaha! I'm glad that pole was of use to someone! And as far as your other post goes....Tanner was always the same way, and now Annalyn is the opposite. People comment on how big she is. No, it is not a competition, and yes, Marissa is perfectly healthy. Don't worry about it.
