Like father like daughter . . .

This week it's Matt's birthday so this blog is dedicated to that great, wonderful, kind, hardworking, and silly man I married almost 2 years ago.

Matt is responsible for so much of the silliness in Marissa.
Examples:
The other day Marissa and I went to visit my sister and Marissa pulled a face that made Lorena say "what is that?"  Well, Marissa did it one day and Matt encouraged her so now she and he do it all day long.  I told him it would be nice if he would teach her how to smile on cue instead of crinkle up her nose and snarl.  I don't know how to describe it. A video would be nice but, this picture is the best I have.  It's just every time I get the camera out she has to reach for it and every thing else is forgotten.

Matt loves to make her laugh.  Lately, if she is in the right mood she laughs when we laugh.  I like that kind of fun. But,  Matt will do ANYTHING to get a giggle out of her.  So, any new sound that he can think of is tested and worn out on our little girl.  I think that's where she gets the alien talk(see video two posts ago). He growls at her.  Sometimes it sounds mean.  But, she laughs. She is fearless.  If I ever try and discourage any silliness he always tells me.  She's laughing.  It can't be bad.

Its not all silly though:
Marissa is determined. That comes from Matt too.  I was trying to take a video of her playing in the swimming pool in our living room. Which, alone is kinda funny. But she sees the camera and so she tries to get out of the pool to come play.
She just doesn't care what's in her way.  She is very determined to get the job done and loves doing it. It doesn't matter that she has one foot out and one foot in. One sock off and one sock on.  She just keeps going.

She loves to read. Its fun.  We often find Marissa sitting turning pages in her book and talking. I can't think of anything cuter.  Matt is an avid reader but as an ex-kindergarten teacher I get to take some credit for that one too.

So, I guess it's just another reason to marry someone you love.  So, that you love your kids too :)

Happy Birthday Matt!
love,
Sandra and Marissa

Cute post. I love it when I notice traits of Tim in my kids. Marissa sure is getting bigger. I love that she will read books. Way to go mom!
