So, for our first thanksgiving we had 11 people at the table. For me this is a new thing.(the table, not the people). I mean do people always sit at tables? Just wondering. So, we kinda did the same thing last year. I mean Lorena and I had my parents, plus my uncle and his family come down from Dallas for Thanksgiving. But this year was much improved on. Not only because the extra company but because the promise of happy, fun, and delicious thanksgivings to come.
Matt and I spent the day before thanksgiving making pies! We made 2 pecan, 2 pumpkin, and 1 lime Meringue pie! We were so proud of ourselves. If nothing else they looked good. I made the crusts and he and I made the fillings. He is really good in the kitchen.
The next day the cooking went well cause my parents came and my mom always saves the day. I can never do gravy right with out her. Well, we put Lorena's table together with my table and had enough room for Mom, Dad, Matt, Sandra, Lorena, Michael, Uncle Jim, Darbie, Whitney, Preston, and Lorena's roommate Trisha. Plus, a bigger then life picture of Ben.
So, the new traditions start. I kinda like sitting at the table for thanksgiving. It is nice. We were all given 3 kernels of popcorn and we went around naming the things we were thankful for. My uncle is getting over some huge health problems so that was on the top of many people's lists. Family and the church are up there too. As for me I am thankful I had such a full home for this thanksgiving.
Two day later looking back the day was a great day. People loved the pies, turkey , and all of the fixings. If had to do it again I wouldn't change much. I would stress less and send people home with leftovers. I mean, I love turkey but this is TOO MUCH.
